The Center for Law, Philosophy and Culture is a forum for the study of questions concerning law's relation to culture and the human good, that aspires to theoretical understanding and to practical insight, with the goal of the renewal and transformation of culture. Its contributions are in the fields of jurisprudence, the philosophy of law, political thought and Christian social ethics. Through its conferences and lecture series, the Center fosters academic cooperation between scholars of law and adjunct disciplines such as philosophy, theology, history, literature, the arts and politics. It is a center of The Catholic University of America, and a program of the University’s Columbus School of Law, offering a certificate program of studies for J.D. students and coordinating a concentration in Jurisprudence for LL.M. students. Together with the Columbus School of Law, it publishes the Journal of Law Philosophy and Culture. In 2005, it received a designation as “University Center of Excellence.”
